This is a reprint of the Ian Allan publication detailing Irish locomotives in 1949. The format of the book is to give a brief history of the relevant railway company, the history of their locotmotives and tables of same, a table of loco superintendents/CMEs and locations of the principal loco sheds. The book is profusely illustrated with photographs of the locomotives as well as having a map of the railway system in 1949. This latter, however, leaves a lot to be desired with some sections of line missing (such as Athenry - Galway!)
